 With a cast of 38, including students from our school-based program, local youth and community artists and guest artists, we told this charming story of mistakes and forgiveness by compiling video shot by family, friends, and teachers in homes, backyards, and local historic sites. A truly inventive and creative project of the pandemic, our virtual Coppélia, danced to the music of Léo Delibes created community as we made art together.

 Virtual Nutcracker

From December 20, 2020, we provided families and educators three ways to enjoy the Nutcracker, all free:

“A Sweet Treat: Highlights from the Nutcracker" 15-minute video of Nutcrackers through the years with the Donetsk Ballet and local ballet students.

A Google Slide with "A Sweet Treat: Highlights of the Nutcracker" (15-minute video) with information about the Nutcracker, ballet, and educational activities.

An encore performance of IBE's 2016 Nutcracker with the Donetsk Ballet and local youth cast.  

La Boutique Fantasque (The Fantastic Toyshop)

 Archive performance of a classic from the early twentieth century. La
 Boutique Fantasque is a fun and witty ballet about friendship and
 loyalty. With music by Ottorino Respighi based on works by Gaichino
 Rossini, the ballet provides a context for studying music, movement,
 and elements of literature and story-telling such as narrative,
 characters, motif.

IBE’s free, fully staged production of The Sleeping Beauty, a ballet performed to the gorgeous music of Tchaikovsky provides a wonderful context for studying music, movement, and elements of literature and story-telling, such as narrative, characters, motifs, fairy tales, and oral tradition.

With guest artists and a youth cast from Wissahickonance Academy in Germantown, Willard Elementary School, and J.B. Kelly Elementary School.

INE’s free, fully staged original ballet to the music of Antonio Vivaldi interprets the passage of the seasons through the Greek myth of Persephone, whose annual journey to and from the Underworld marks the passage of spring, summer, fall, and winter. The Four Seasons provides a wonderful context for studying science (why do we have seasons?), ecology, music, language arts, geography, and more

A Midsummer Night's Dream

IBE’s free, fully staged ballet of William Shakespeare’s play about love and mischief features the music of Felix Mendelsohn, enchanting sets and costumes and a cast of memorable characters. It is a wonderful context for studying music, movement, and elements of literature and story-telling, such as narrative, characters, and motifs.
